John C. Vories, 95 of Booneville, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in Booneville, Arkansas. He was born March 28, 1914 in LaVeta, Colorado to Fielding Benton and Edna Mae (Anderson) Vories.
John was retired from the Ace Comb Company in Booneville where he worked in Maintenance. He served as deacon emeritus at the First Baptist Church in Booneville and was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing and following the Atlanta Braves.
He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia; his parents; twin sons, Johnny and David Vories; and three sisters, Nora Belle See, Edna Jean Patzkowsky, and Margaret Sorstokke.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Booneville with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
He is survived by two daughters, Ellen gadbury of Booneville and Virginia Cotner of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; three sons, Keith Vories and wife Debra of Booneville, Earl Vories and wife Cindy of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Wayne Vories of Conway, Arkansas; one sister, Ruth Harris of Roanoke, Virginia, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Doug Cotner, Mark Cotner, Jonathan Cotner, James Kendall, Alex Newman, Jimmy King, Benton Vories and Cody Matteri.
